It is a chat-based pricing tool. Describe a project and it checks current market rates, builds a line-by-line price breakdown, and gives you a quotation or invoice you can send. Freelancers use it to price with confidence. Clients use it to check that a quote is fair.
How it works
Describe the project
Tell the chat what you are building, the deadline, and where you are based. Attach a brief, a PDF or a screenshot if you have one. Say whether you are the freelancer or the client.
Get a market-checked price
It looks up current rates, asks one short question at a time if something is missing, and returns hours and rate for every line item, plus a low, typical and high range for the whole project.
Adjust it and send it
Edit any hour or rate, switch between quotation and invoice, print to PDF, or share a read-only link. Reply to, edit or delete any message and the quote follows.

Within the market range
QuoteWise shows this verdict for every quote, so you can see where your price sits before you send it. Sample numbers, made up for illustration.
The same numbers for both sides of the table. You choose a role for each chat, and the advice changes to fit who is asking.
Freelancer
- See where your price sits against the market before you send it.
- Stop undercharging: every line shows hours, rate and the assumptions behind it.
- Send a clean quotation, then reuse the same breakdown as an invoice.
- Share a link instead of attaching files.
Client
- Paste a quote you received and see whether it looks high, low or fair.
- Understand what each line pays for and what is assumed.
- Get a short list of what to ask and what to negotiate.
- Open any quote a freelancer shares with you, with no account needed.
See where your price sits among everyone else's
If you choose to share, QuoteWise adds an anonymous summary of each quote to a shared pool. People who have shared for 30 days then see how a quote compares with similar ones. Share to see.
- Off by default. You decide, and you can change your mind.
- Never your name, your brief, your files or your chat.
- Group statistics only, and only once at least 5 similar quotes exist.
- Prices unlock 30 days after you start sharing, so it stays a fair exchange. The rest of QuoteWise works without it.
- Honest about what it is: quotes made in QuoteWise, not verified payments. It starts empty and grows as people share.
Illustration with made-up numbers. A real comparison appears only when enough people have shared.
What is inside
- Market-checked pricing
- Looks up current rates for the kind of work and the freelancer's region, then shows the total against a low, typical and high range.
- Editable line items
- Every price is hours times rate. Change either number and the subtotal, contingency, tax and total recalculate.
- Quotation and invoice
- One breakdown, two documents. Fill in names and a reference number, then print or save as PDF.
- Share by link
- Turn on a read-only link for a quote. Anyone with it can view that one quote, and you can turn it off again.
- Community benchmarks
- Opt in to share an anonymous summary of your quotes. After 30 days of sharing you see where your rate sits among similar ones. Group statistics only, never individuals.
- A real conversation
- One question at a time, with tappable answers. Reply to a message, edit and resend, or delete and undo.
- Upload files
- Attach PDFs, screenshots, or .txt, .md, .csv and .json files, such as a client brief or a quote you were sent.
- Use it from your AI assistant
- Connect Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor over MCP to read your saved quotes, calculate totals and look up community benchmarks, or let it save a quote for you. Keys are read-only unless you allow creating quotes, and you can delete them any time.
- Saved history
- Sign in with Google and your quotes are waiting on any device. Each chat has its own address you can bookmark.
- Bring your own model
- Use Anthropic, OpenAI, Gemini, OpenRouter, Groq, a local Ollama model, or any OpenAI-compatible service. Your API key stays in your browser.
- Any currency
- Say the currency in the chat, or set a default in your profile.
What to know before you rely on it
These are estimates, not guarantees.
Market ranges come from an AI model's research or knowledge and can be wrong. Check the sources it lists and use your own judgement.
Live rate research needs the Anthropic API.
With other providers the model estimates from what it already knows, and the quote says so.
Images need a model that can read them.
PDFs are read as text. For a scanned PDF, upload a screenshot instead.
You pay your AI provider.
QuoteWise uses your own key, so your provider bills you for the model.
Questions
- Do I need an AI key?
- Yes. You bring a key from a provider such as Anthropic, OpenAI or Google. Add it once in the model settings.
- Who can see my chats?
- Only you. Chats and quotes are saved to your account. A quote becomes public only if you turn on its share link, and you can turn it off.
- What data do the community benchmarks use?
- Only if you opt in: the type of work, country, level, your hourly rate, hours, price and weeks. Never your name, your brief, your files or your chat. Others see group statistics once at least 5 similar quotes exist, and you can opt out and remove your data at any time. Community prices unlock after you have shared for 30 days.
- Where is my API key stored?
- In your browser. Each request passes through our server to reach your provider, and the key is not saved there.
- Is it only for developers?
- No. It works for any project that can be priced by time: design, writing, video, consulting, and more.
